In the days of being targeted from every direction with ideas, suggestions, manipulations, politics, religion, ….oh it goes on and on…its harder than ever to be true to ourselves. It’s also more important to try. We have to listen to our gut instincts and not be stupid. Stupid is knowing you shouldn’t do something and doing it anyway. So, when we knowingly do something that we know if going to hurt someone that we claim to care about…well, we’re being stupid. We’ve all been hurt by someone we trust, so why do we turn around and do it to someone else? It doesn’t make sense and there’s simply no justification for it. Being reckless and careless with our friendships simply shows everyone around us that we don’t really care about them. I have a hard time believing we are being true to ourselves when we treat other people as disposable, because treating others the way we want to be treated was one of the first lessons most of us learned about socializing. I know I don’t want to be treated like my friendship is disposable, do you?

We Are All Different

Well, another post on Facebook has inspired me to write. Someone asked why bloggers don’t credit skins…or this…or that. This was met with tons of replies from more people pointing the fingers at bloggers for how they do this wrong and should do this and shouldn’t do that. There were bloggers defending themselves. Others were saying how they don’t blog certain things. I even commented that I rarely list appliers, because I usually don’t remember what I’ve got on.
That thread has stayed with me ever since. The thing is, we all blog for different reasons, and we all have our own way of blogging. Just like stores and events look for different things in bloggers. I think people that don’t blog and even some that do are under some misconceptions that there are certain rules about blogging. There aren’t. We all blog the way we want to blog. We set our own standards. The only rules we are obligated to follow are rules we agree to when joining a designer’s team and that’s IF the designer has rules in place. Not all designers do.
Whether you’re a blogger or you like to follow the blogs, the only thing you accomplish by attacking bloggers is drive them from their passion. If there’s a particular blogger that you admire and you really want to know more about what they post, please go to that blogger directly. Please don’t assume we are all the same. Please know that we are as different as the people that follow the blogs. Some like to read stuff, some just want the photos and the credits. So, unless you want to be attacked as an audience, please do not attack us as a community.

Spring Clean

Condo Christmas

I am a sucker for skyboxes, but let’s face it, most of us use skyboxes because we don’t need a lot of space. Therefore, its fair to assume that most skyboxes won’t be very big. Although, some of them most certainly are as big if not bigger than some of the most popular houses. However, I tend to believe that most skybox lovers prefer the quaint spaces. Just like real life, decorating small spaces for holidays can often present its own challenges. So what if you don’t have a fireplace, you can hang those stocking from a shelf near a window. If Santa’s fat ass can find his way down a chimney, surely he can use that same magic to get through a window!

Every Leaf is a Flower

I love the changing of the leaves in fall. I live in a condo that has a lovely entrance and the avenue that comes down into our neighborhood is lined with the most colorful trees. Every fall, we are blessed with brilliant reds, bright golds, bold oranges…and not just on the trees, but on the ground and whisking around the cars as we generate a gentle wind. The crisp air tingles exposed flesh just enough to make you appreciate your sweater. As the world shifts from greens to the warmest of earth tones, we see the shift of decor in homes, yards, and stores. It makes me crave hot chocolate and caramel apples. I love how creative people get with their pumpkins, too. Reserving them for Autumn rather than mutilating them to make some jagged scene or face for Halloween. This is the coziest of all the seasons to me and though the shift in weather causes me to ache and hurt more physically than usual, I could never hate it.

Not So Haunted

It’s no secret that I’m an atheist. So, it should come as no surprise that I’m also a skeptic when it comes to most things that are considered supernatural, particularly ghosts, possessions, demons, and anything considered haunted. However, most people never question how I came to these conclusions. For one thing, I’ve spent multiple nights in a house that was supposedly haunted and I never saw a thing. Haunted houses are especially suspect to me, because they’re always old houses. It’s like apartments or houses built in the last 50 years are never haunted. Plenty of murders and bizarre deaths happen in homes like those, but for some reason they’re never reported to be haunted. I’ve never heard of an atheist being possessed. For that matter, it seems to be limited to Catholics.
What might really surprise people is that I do believe that there is life on other planets, but not in our solar system. I also believe in vampires, but not the blood drinking, murderous type. I believe in psyvamps, as they feed off of energy, and this is something I’m quite familiar with, because I’ve been doing that very thing since I was a child. Psyvamps get a very bad reputation, but that’s a topic for another day. I, also, believe in certain forms of…well, for the lack of a better word…magic. This is also something I’ve experienced and perhaps one day, I’ll write more about that. For now, I just wanted to touch on some basic supernatural ideas, because I’m currently watching The Haunting of Hill House on Netflix. *laughs*
I dunno, I’m just not big into believing in make believe monsters, when all the real monsters I’ve seen and met have been human. Perhaps that’s why crime shows intrigue me so much. That or I’m just a twisted weirdo. *shrugs & giggles*

Roses and Me

I think I have a strangle love/hate relationship with roses. I’ve never been a big fan of them, because I found them quite commercial and too cliche’. My mother has always loved them and whenever she’s been able to have a garden, she has had rose bushes of various types over the years. I don’t particularly like the smell, nor am I all that fascinated with any type of botany, much less roses. My favorite flower has always been the Gerber daisy, they’re hard to grow (at least for me) and they don’t last too long in a vase either. Fake ones are never mistaken for real ones and I find them to be much more special and alluring. However, with all of that said, the older my mom and I get, the more I appreciate the things she loves…like roses. I don’t want to wait until she’s gone to appreciate something she loves. So, more and more, I’ve found myself smiling upon the sight if roses.

Though you can’t see them super well in the photo below, Dahlia did these amazing tins with roses on top for the Sept round of TLC. I was so excited by them, that I had to include them in this post. You can bet you will see them again and again, as they are the perfect touch for every room in the house.
