Copper River

I love this look so much that I put off taking my picture just so I’d have an excuse (in my own head) to wear it longer. Plus, I knew I would want just the right setting for the photo. I needed something would give that music festival in the desert feel. I knew just the place…Copper River. This sim houses two of the newest events on the grid and though nothing I’m wearing is from either event, it’s ok. The two events on that sim are Salon52 and Flourish, both owned by Keely Mistwood and Kess Crystal. Yes, my regular readers should recognize the name, Kess. She is one of my absolute best friends and has been one of my biggest inspirations in blogging. We’re so busy doing our own things these days, that when we do catch up we don’t talk too much or too long about business. So, I don’t know who did the landscaping for this sim (I probably should have found out), but it is amazing. The events are across the sim from each other, but the space between them is incredible and that’s all I’m going to say. Go see it.

Pay Phones

Alright, all you millennials gather round, I’ve got a story to tell you. Go on, get comfy, this is going to blow your mind. Is everyone ready? Alright, let’s proceed…Tracy you are not a millennial put your damn hand down. Grace, just sip…erhm…guzzle on your vodka and shhhhhh…good girl! Yes, you can drink wine, Kess….ffs, okay, gin. Will you cunts settle down? YOU ARE NOT MILLENNIALS! Okay, ready? Let’s begin…*giggles*
Once upon a time, a very not so long time ago, there were these strange boxes found at gas stations across the country. They were also found at shopping centers, malls, schools, and so many more businesses. They were called pay phones. Brace yourselves…there was no such thing as a mobile or cellular phone. There were pagers, but that was mostly for doctors and drug dealers. Then for several years everyone had pagers….and THEN cell phones came around, but even then the costs were extremely high. Every once in a while, if you keep your eyes open, you might just see one of these ancient relics….*swats Emily’s butt*…NO! Not people like me! Pay phones, Emily, jeez! Well, there you have it, boys and girls. If you’re ever stuck out in the world without your cell phone….if you can find one of these…you might can still make a call. Oh, but you’ll need some loose change.

Head in the Clouds

Head in the clouds
Got no weight on my shoulders
I should be wiser
And realize that I’ve got
One less problem without ya!
Ariana Grande Problems

head-in-the-clouds-2
How often do we resolve to let go of someone or something, only to keep grabbing it at, to keep talking about it…even a year, sometimes even years, after the fact? We know life is better, yet we keep diving into that memory bank forcing ourselves to relive or romanticize the past.  I’m not pointing fingers at anyone, trust me that I don’t know a single person that doesn’t do this to some degree. We all have at least one ex that did a real number on us and permanently altered our outlook on life. I’m not talking about that feeling of falling backwards through some musical portal because of an unexpected song. I’m talking about still making decisions hoping that someone is still watching. With all the social media at our fingertips its easier than ever to keep tabs on ex friends and lovers. Easier for us to be stalked, too.

William Shakespeare said, “All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players: they have their exits and their entrances; and one man in his time plays many parts, his acts being seven ages.”

I can only imagine what he would think of said stage with all of the ways we put on a show these days. One look at YouTube will prove that anyone can be on film these days. So, back to what I was saying…why? Why do we insist on parading our lives about like peacocks displaying our plumage? I can tell you that peacocks are showing off in the hopes of getting laid…so what’s our excuse? Most of us would immediately jump to the defense and deny that we’re trying to seduce an ex. So why are we seeking their attention? What are we hoping to gain? Oh look what you lost. If our value was recognized, it wasn’t for the photos or actions done after the break. Not to mention that what we’re doing is pretty damn obvious to everyone around us. I can only come up with one answer: We didn’t honestly let go…we’re simply swinging in and out of the past. When we’re truly ready to let go we’ll soar high and leap from that swing and move on to another area of our proverbial playground without looking back. Gawd, my brain hurts sometimes…*facepalms*
In the meantime, may we all get the attention we seek and get even closer to leaping off the swings, running across the playground and sliding into our future. Nothing wrong with having our head in the clouds, so long as we keep our feet on the ground. I’ll see you at the playground! *winks*
