What If…Cinderella..

We all know the fairy tale about Cinderella, but I can’t help but wonder, “What if Cinderella had been born a lesbian?” Perhaps she met Prince Charming at the ball and was like, “Meh.” What if she’d been more attracted to one of the many women at the ball hoping to become the next princess? What if she didn’t even want a spouse and just wanted to live a quiet little life in the country with nature, away from the evil family that enslaved her? What if she wanted to be a lumberjack and here comes this Fairy Godmother thrusting her into another situation she doesn’t want to be in. Maybe she dropped that slipper as a cry for help. I mean, seriously, glass shoes cannot be comfortable! So, the fairy tale was written for the girl to be saved by a man. What if that man turned out to be a big ole control freak who beat her ass worse than the step-mom? Noooo, we just assume they lived happily ever after! Ever wonder why there was no sequel? I’ll tell you why, she probably killed his conceited ass. Throwing a ball to find a wife? Seriously? Was that the original Bachelor? Yes, these are the random sorta things I lie in bed thinking about at night. You’re welcome.

Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary

Mary Mary

When I was in the first grade, I wanted my name to be Mary so I changed it…without telling anyone. If I did tell them, they dismissed it as childish banter and went on about their day forgetting all about it. I had all my friends calling me Mary at school and at home, but adults didn’t seem to notice, because in my warped little mind I still answered to my birth name. Anyway, where was I….oh yeah, so six year old me changed her name to Mary, even wrote my name on my homework that way. No one said anything, so I kept on doing it thinking the deed was done. I was happy. My new name was Mary and when I grew up I would move to New York City and throw my hat into the air. (Some of you will get that.)
One day, my parents were called in for teacher-parent meeting. The teacher insisted I had not turned in any of my assignments for over two weeks. My parents defended me. They knew I had done my homework, because they watched me sit at the foot of their bed while we all watched TV every night. So, they call me in the room and ask me where my work was. Naturally, I told them I turned it in. The teacher was so confused. She pulled out a stack of papers and asked me to find my work. I went right to my page and pulled it out. As I handed it to the teacher, my parents smiled quite smugly if I remember correctly. Afterall, their child was brilliant and they were right. The teacher looked at the paper, pulled our her role book, scanned the list of names saw that the last names matched but not the first. When she showed it to my parents, they were confused. So, I had to explain to the stupid adults that I had changed my name. Imagine my surprise when they told me I couldn’t just change my name any ole time I wanted. Hmmpf.

She had a strange habit of putting on her shoes before her dress. For one thing, she had to see how she was going to look wearing nothing but the shoes. Ya never know when you might just end up that way, right? She also had an addiction to shoes. She would readily admit that. Hell, tonight she was dressing around them. Having no clue what she was wearing aside from her new Alma platforms and her favorite lotion, she giggled to herself, “she puts the lotion on the skin or she gets the hose again.”

Walking With Koi♥

There legends about the Koi fish. Legends about them representing luck, strength, abundance, success, spirituality…even love and friendship. For me, they are just fascinating fish. Whether big or small, they fill ponds across the world, and their colors are so vibrant that it reminds me of watching a fire. I can just be mesmerized by watching them swim about for hours. So, when Jian released this Koi Pond Gazebo with a glass floor, I was immediately in love! I just love walking around in it and looking beneath my feet to watch the fish. Each one is only 3li, so you can rez as many as you like! I honestly don’t have a story to tell or some deep inspirational words to go with this post. Facing Her Fear

The water was so cold! She slid her body in feet first….slowly lowering her legs into the frigid pool. She hadn’t been swimming since she was a child and almost drown, but she had to get over that. She had to face her fear. She loved the water, so being afraid of getting in beyond the depths of a bathtub was something she was determined to do. This was the year. After all, how was she going to host a pool party if she couldn’t even get in her own pool.
Yes, she had a pool that she had never swam in. She thought by getting the gorgeous pool with waterfalls and plants installed…well, she thought she would swim. Instead, her nieces used it every other weekend. No more, she was going to do this. She could and she would. She sat there, frozen and shivering with water to her upper thighs. Her arms shaking, “Just let go!” She repeated to herself over and over until her arms gave out and she was in the water. She flailed about for what seemed like an hour, but was honestly more like a minute. Grabbing at the edge of the pool, she got her head above the water and smiled to herself. “I didn’t drown,” she thought.
She inched her way around to the shallow end of the pool until she could stand up and waded about with the water chest high. She noticed that the parts of her that were under water, were warmer than those above and she went a little deeper…until the water was neck high. She remembered her swimming lessons as a kid and slowly lifted her feet, swinging her arms to and fro, “I’m treading water!”
Alright, she was going to be fine. Swimming, check, Overcoming her fear of water, check. Now…about those airplanes….

Welcome To My Darkness

Its no secret that I have a dark side, I make jokes about my dark side being the side of me that likes pink, girly things like unicorns and cupcakes. I’m actually not a huge fan of those things, but its hard to hate things that bring so much joy to others. The truth is that my dark side is probably my truest side. Few people in my life have seen the darkest parts of my soul and I doubt anyone else ever will. I work really hard to keep it in check, because it can frighten people. It makes life harder than it already is.
Even the mild hints at my dark side tend to frighten people. My fascination with black clothes had my mother convinced I was a devil worshiper when I was only 19 and at one point I had black hair with blonde roots, as I am naturally blond. I was obsessed with Robert Smith of The Cure and did my make up a lot like his. Goth wasn’t a thing then, not like now. At my last job, all my co-workers had scriptures and crosses…family photos decorating their cubicles. I had skulls and dragons. When I told them I’m not a Christian, they assumed I was a devil worshiper, too. I had to explain that atheists don’t believe in the devil either. *laughs*
As, I’ve grown older, I have found more of a balance between the dark and the light. It’s helped me quite a bit and opened my world in ways I never imagined possible, but I will always embrace the dark as much if not more than the light. Its just who I am. Just like I will probably always go to sleep with the TV on…the only shows being those about crime, naturally….preferably serial killers. *grins*
I’ve recently made some changes to the way I’m blogging. I’ve been writing short stories or scenarios to go along with the photo. This is just a way to bring that balance into my creativity. I love writing, but I will admit that I’ve enjoyed writing the scenes much more than opening myself up and sharing such intimate parts of myself. I can’t promise that I will always write a story or scenario for each post, but I do think I’ll be doing it a lot more in the future. I hope that you, my readers, enjoy them as much as I do. If not, there’s always the option to just scroll on down to the details. ♥

Am I Dreaming?

Have things ever been going so well in your life that you’re just waiting for the other shoe to drop? That’s how I’ve been feeling lately. So many wonderful things are happening around me, I’m starting to wonder what fatal diagnosis the doctors are going to deliver when I finally get in to the see them on May 2nd. I’ve been in a wonderful SL relationship for over four months, and let’s face it…THAT is a pretty huge deal, especially for me. My blogging is going well. I’m working with stores I would never have imagined possible a year ago. I have three of the absolute best girl friends anyone could ask for and they’ve been there with me, through thick and thin, for almost two years now. Again, THAT is huge in Second Life…that four women (five if you count the ever absent Ava, who is off living a wonderful RL and good for her)…that four women could continuously be there without stabbing each other in the back in a virtual world for that long…yeah, miracle in itself. Now, I’m working with some of the most incredible minds on the grid as I take on more responsibilities…like yeah, they trust little squirrel chasing me!!!
I promise I’m not bragging, but if you’ve read my blog over the last year…well, you have to know that its not been an easy road. Yes, I think its about time good things started to happen, but wow…the amount of goodness happening…well, to be honest, sometimes I have to pinch myself, because I wonder, “Am I dreaming?”

Looking Back

From time to time, I really struggle with what I want to write about as I blog. Its been just over a year now that I’ve returned to the blogging scene and as I look back over some of my early blogs I’m flooded with memories, some good..some not so good. Mostly, I’m smiling as I relive bits and pieces of my journey. I see how I’ve grown. I relived a few painful moments. I laughed at my own jokes. It has been an amazing personal journey. Therapeutic, yes, but also fun. It’s just been a lot of fun for me to take photos, showcase designs from across the grid, and to share bits of myself with whoever was willing to take the time to read my ramblings. I’m so grateful for the opportunities afforded me from blogging. I’m even more grateful for the all of the incredible people that blogging has introduced into my life. In some ways, I wish I had stuck with blogging years ago, but I had absolutely no idea what I was doing back then. It’s only with the help of my friends that I even have the beginning of a clue now. Meh, there I go rambling again…so let’s just skip to the best part…the details.
