Roses and Me

I think I have a strangle love/hate relationship with roses. I’ve never been a big fan of them, because I found them quite commercial and too cliche’. My mother has always loved them and whenever she’s been able to have a garden, she has had rose bushes of various types over the years. I don’t particularly like the smell, nor am I all that fascinated with any type of botany, much less roses. My favorite flower has always been the Gerber daisy, they’re hard to grow (at least for me) and they don’t last too long in a vase either. Fake ones are never mistaken for real ones and I find them to be much more special and alluring. However, with all of that said, the older my mom and I get, the more I appreciate the things she loves…like roses. I don’t want to wait until she’s gone to appreciate something she loves. So, more and more, I’ve found myself smiling upon the sight if roses.

Though you can’t see them super well in the photo below, Dahlia did these amazing tins with roses on top for the Sept round of TLC. I was so excited by them, that I had to include them in this post. You can bet you will see them again and again, as they are the perfect touch for every room in the house.

VolleyBall and Hot Dogs

I’ve said it many times about how blessed I am to have such amazing friends. That’s never been more evident than when I sent out a notice giving them one day to toss on some beach wear and come pose for a photo in which they probably won’t even be recognized.  Not only did they show up, but we had so much fun shooting this photo. My four closes friends were there without question and that makes me love them all the more. This is not a fashion post and I’m not going to bother trying to list what everyone is wearing. Especially since this photo is all about the VolleyBall game and the hot dog thief. Clearly, Dusty is too distracted by bouncing girls in bikinis to notice the pups stealing…lol…oh and if you know Dusty, you know that this is where he would roll his cartoon eyes. *smirks*

Office Stuff

I’ve had a weakness for office furniture and supplies since I was a child. I have no idea why. I remember having a small walk in closet in one house, I used a tv dinner table as a desk and two chairs in there with a lamp and made it my private office. I would sit in there for hours, writing stories, coloring, drawing…pretending to do office stuff. I was over the moon when I got my first type writer and eventually I had a real desk. It was absolutely glorious. I had designed it myself and my father made it by hand for me. Now in SL, I probably have more stuff for a home office than any other room in a house. *giggles*

The Desert

I’ve always wanted to see the desert. I’ve seen some beautiful mountains, both in the U.S. and in Europe, but the desert…nope. Maybe one day before I die, but it’s doubtful. I don’t foresee my ass getting on a plane, that’s for damn sure. As for a road trip? Sure, it sounds like a blast, but to be fair, if I’m heading west in a car, I’m heading for Utah. Clearly, not for the site seeing, but that’s where one of my best friends lives and I’d rather see her than some long ass stretch of sand. Which is what I’ve been told the desert looks like by those that have lived there. They don’t seem to find it all that impressive at all. I suppose that’s like New Yorkers never going to the top of the Empire State building or the Statue of Liberty. Sometimes it takes an outsider to appreciate the things we so often take for granted.

Anyway, all this hacienda themed stuff really had me thinking about that…and well, there ya go…that’s how my blog works…lol.

Hello Darkness

I grew up listening to songs like this one, but for me…this particular song speaks to the creative part of me, the dreamer within me. It is late at night when the rest of the world is seemingly sleeping that my creative energy is at its best. I’ve written my best poems in the middle of the night and I can almost promise you that my best photos have been conceived of, or flowed along organically under the veil of night.
I remember living in Illinois when I was 21/22 and walking down to the river in the middle of the night, with my headset, pen and paper, and tissues. I almost always cried. No matter how hot or cold (and sometimes it was icy fucking cold) I could sit there on this private dock in a posh neighborhood that I had no business being in…and somehow feel like I was home. The river flowing past me, losing myself in either the music or the quiet flow of the water. It was a place that I could go to recapture my ideas and put them in order.I imagine now, the entire process would take place with a smart phone, but back then…depending on the moon for my light? I don’t know, there was something romantic about it. I suppose I’m rambling at this exact moment, as I feel myself getting lost in memories or yesteryear and I’ve got shopping to do in SL, because this creative mind of mine is alive and well at 12:30 am…there are ideas brewing!

Flipper

I know I’m about to show my age, but I don’t really care about that. People keep telling me it’s just a number and while that’s partially true, its a lot more than that. Anyway, I digress…shocker! I was actually going somewhere with this…oh yeah, Flipper!! I used to watch this show all the time as a kid. I thought there was nothing cooler than having a dolphin for a pet. Thinking back on it now, I don’t remember what any of the episodes were actually about. I do remember thinking that the sad part about Flipper was that you couldn’t cuddle a dolphin. I remember my father telling me stories about swimming with the dolphins at Virginia Beach when he was a kid. I can only imagine what that was like. It certainly sounded amazing. I know its not something I’ll ever do now, but it is definitely something I wished I had done. So, if you’re young and full of life…healthy and in any way able to do something as amazing as swim with dolphins, please go and do just that. You won’t regret doing it, but you might regret not doing it. I know I do.

I have to say, I really am blessed when it comes to some of my friends. As I’m writing this my face is hurting from laughing so hard. I’ve been laughing so hard that I feel sorta drunk. Mind you, I messed up my meds the past few days, so that could be part of it. Regardless, it’s been a crazy whirlwind day, but aside from literally waking myself up shaking, it was a good day.

Captive Little Mermaid

So, my warped little mind got to thinking about what would happen if mermaids were real. First of all, you know some rich prick would find a way to catch a few and have them in his private house sized aquarium. Then I thought about how there’s this fossil out there that suggests there really was a creature like a mermaid, but it was much smaller. Naturally, if there smaller or similar in size to tropical fish, they’d be heavily coveted for personal aquariums. And that is what led me to doing this photo. I know its a bit out there, but I kinda dig it. Hope you do, too.

Kissing Frogs

I’ve about to decided that I’m going to refer to all my exes as frogs. I’ve kissed them all and not a one has turned into a prince, but they’ve certainly wasted no time in hopping away. They made a whole lot of noise and had no problem sharing my pad, but when it came down to it they all ended up back in the pond. Personally, I think they can stay there. Perhaps someone else will find a use for them….oh say, frog legs sauteed in a garlic butter sauce. *smirks* Either way, I’m done kissing frogs and going forward, frogs will just have to remain in the pond where I found them. I can enjoy them from a distance while partaking in some Kronic. *grins*

Silly Epic Moment

I was at the Frisky Beaver listening to Red Heaven, when I’m alerted to my name being used in local. Yes, I have a sound alert, because I have a hard time keeping up with local AND IMs. So, I look in local to see this:
