Making someone disappear

I think its about time that we start calling some of these people on their bullshit. No, I don’t mean our friends. I mean these bozos that crawl into our IMs with pictures of their dicks or other unwarranted crap. I saw we call them out on the spot. Answer their IMs in local…oops! *grins* I think they will disappear like magic! Better yet, maybe they’ll get upset and call us names…that seems to be a popular defense to rejection. You won’t fuck me so you’re a whore. *laughs* That makes soooo much sense. People are dumb, we have to be smarter. Killing them with kindness sometimes works, but rarely. I think its more fun to play dumb. If they’re stupid enough to send that kinda garbage to a stranger, they will surely believe we’re as dumb as they are. Meanwhile, we get to have some fun! Just a rando thought that crossed my mind as I sat down to write about magic and what tricks I’d like to perform. I think making someone disappear would be pretty awesome.

Great Team

They say you should find someone that makes you a better person. Someone that makes you push yourself to be your best. Someone that believes in you, compliments you and your life. Someone that you do the same for, as well. Afterall, its a two way street, right?

I’m not sure I’ve EVER known that kind of relationship. I’ve either been with people that completely agreed with everything I said or wanted and simply let me have my way. OR I’ve been with assholes that made me think their constant destructive criticisms were actually constructive. Well, until now…I really hope that I encourage Josh the way he does me, though I’m honestly not sure. Of course, I’d like to think so, but I know I tend to be a bit self-centered and easily distracted. I’ve got a thousand legitimate excuses for being the way I am, but that’s not what I’m talking about right now. Right now, I’m gushing about Josh again. Yeah, I know…the love cynic has turned into a pile of mush. *swoons*
Much like a musical instrument added to a beautiful voice, Josh and I make a great team. At least I think so…and I know at least a half dozen others who would agree. You see, I used to think that Josh was always biased about my photos, because he would always tell me my photos were amazing. I still think he’s biased, mind you. I know my photos are not AMAZING, but I do believe I take some shots that are pretty damn awesome. This may or may not be one of them, but I know its better than my original shot which featured both the dress and the shoes in black. Josh pointed out that the details of both were sort of blending with the piano. I took a second look at the picture and he was right. So, I tried a few colors as he watched and grinned like the cheshire cat and waalaaa…here’s the improved photo.
This is also an important lesson for all you shoppers that debate on whether or not to buy the fatpack. You show up wearing the perfect dress, but someone else is wearing the exact same dress? Change the color and a few accessories and BOOM, you look fab AND different. Plus, if you’re like me and always taking photos, you can set the color for the scene. See? So tell those that love to spoil you that you’re a fatpacker. They’ll love you for it and probably buy you one or two or four…*winks*

Turn Your Back On It

I see a lot of threads on Facebook about people getting mad at each other for commenting on shady comments directed at them, while the person commenting had no idea who it was about and didn’t care. As I’m not sure that reads correctly, lets put some fake names on it, using the alphabet, okay?

A makes a shady status update on Facebook about Z. B makes a comment on said shady status having no idea who the original comment was about. Z sees it, knows that A is talking about them and now wonders if B has a problem with them, as well. Now B has hurt feelings and is confused. In the confusion, B sends a message to Z asking what’s up? Z clearly has no idea what B is talking about and now they have beef, too. So, essentially whatever bond B and Z might have had…well, its damaged over something that had nothing to do with Z in the first place.

Here’s another example, albeit extreme, it does happen. Y makes a shady status update about X. Now D comes along this status on their feed and makes a comment. X is downright pissed off and unfriends D. Until now, D was clueless about the true drama, but after the tantrum that X throws by unfriending D…well, D isn’t all that bothered, but is now amused enough to share the experience elsewhere on Facebook.
Do you see where this is going?

I actually have my own little story that coincides with this. About 2 1/2 years ago, I went through a really nasty break up and the ex was ranting all over Facebook in her ever true to narcissistic fashion via passive aggressive status updates….all aimed at me, of course, but oddly enough hidden from me, as well. We can’t allow the subject of our passive aggressive posts to defend themselves, now can we? *laughs* Okay, so we all know how this goes, right? You might hide the status from the intended subject, but you have common “friends” and someone always likes to stir the pot by running and telling everything they see. And so it was one fateful night that I sat around with some new and old friends playing some Cards Against Humanity. I get a random IM from someone that had not spoken to me in month,s showing me exactly what was said by the EX and all the people that commented on it. Two of the people that commented knew exactly who it was about and yes, I unfriended them. However, there was one comment made by someone sitting at the very table I was playing the game with me. As her SL name differed slightly from her FB name, I asked her who she was on Facebook. She confirmed that she was the person in question. So, I advised her rather quickly and a bit curtly that I was not “emotionally stunted” as she had commented on my ex’s post. I could tell by her embarrassment and apology that she truly had no idea that the ex was speaking of me, as she barely knew either of us and had only seen us around and not really together when she did. Mind you, in addition to her apology she deleted her comment immediately and is now one of my absolute best friends. We’ve never even come close to having a disagreement since that night. We were kinda lucky in the sense that we were able to sort it out right away and move forward.
However, as you can imagine, there are a lot of ways this can go down. Most of them only end in hurt feelings, lost friendships, and missed opportunities. So…the moral of this post is that if you don’t know what/who the shady status is about…then its best to keep on scrolling. Now, if you do know and wanna throw shade…knock yourselves out, but just remember, you’re feeding the drama llama…so don’t go running to your profile with that “I don’t do drama” bullshit cuz you clearly do. So, if you really want to avoid the drama, scroll on past the stuff that doesn’t concern you and turn your back on unnecessary drama. *nods and steps off her soap box*

Haunted Hallway

I was talking about the different types of abuse I endured as a kid the other day. It wasn’t really one of those emo conversations, but more about which types of abuse seem to have left the deepest scars. For me personally, it was the physical or sexual abuse. It was the verbal, emotion, and mental abuse. There was a hallway in my house that had two doors on either side and to this day I have nightmares about that hallway. Why? Because it was there that I was scarred the most. Passing my father in the hallway only to hear him mutter insults repeatedly throughout every single day. This went on long after the physical and sexual abuse ended. In fact, it got worse. I think we all know too well how insults and negative statements tend to linger…to weigh heavier than the positive. I wish I could change that. I wish I could believe the good things people say as much, if not more, than the bad.
Perhaps if we are kinder to one another, more complimentary towards one another…we can avoid haunted hallways and instead step out into the sun. May we embrace the rays of positive words and leave the negative remarks…the hate…the abuse…behind us…in the dark.

Talk Derby to Me

Talk Derby to Me

Once upon a time…like a decade plus ago, I was involved with the local roller derby girls in my real life. Oh don’t be daft, my ass was not a derby girl. Let me explain. I was editor of my college newspaper, so I was always on the hunt for a good story that the readers might find interesting. Well, it just so happened that my boss’s daughter was the captain of the new local roller derby team. I scheduled an interview and before I knew it I was hooked. I was going to all of their matches and a my assistant editor had joined up! It was a brutal, but incredibly sexy sport.
I was telling Josh about it when I was taking this picture and he didn’t anything about it. So, I went to YouTube in search of some examples and it seems the rules have changed quite a bit since my days of hanging out with derby girls. However, in the event that you, too, are not aware of what it is or would just like to check it out, I’ve found a video of highlights that I enjoyed called Roller Derby-The Mad Whirl!  Perhaps, you will, too. Either way, I’m loving all the skating pictures that are about on the blogs and Flickr at the moment, because it is really taking me down a pretty awesome memory lane. So, here’s the video. If you watch it, you’ll probably see where I got the title for this post.

All I ever wanted
Had to get away”
The GoGos Vacation

I’ve mentioned before how much I love swimwear in Second Life. Probably because it is very very rare to catch me in any type of swimwear or even out in the sun. When I saw this sexy one piece from Blueberry at C88, I knew I had to have it. Considering I just went a tone darker with my skin, I knew the white would really pop, as well. As I turned my cam from the Blueberry Mood swimsuit, I saw the Rondeletia heels from Empire and knew this was a match made in beach heaven! Once I put the outfit together I was off to find the perfect beach setting for a picture. As soon as I landed at Baja Bay, the song Vacation jumped in my head and the chorus was stuck on repeat. As I listened to the song in its entirety I realized its about trying to forget someone. While that part certainly doesn’t apply to me at the moment, it might next year. *rolls her eyes*
So, yeah, nothing deep and meaningful to write about here, I just really wanted to show off another swimsuit, because I can be vain like that at times. And to point out that in Second Life, we can go on vacation anytime we want and just about anywhere we want! How amazing is that?

Take the Train Somewhere

“My baby takes the morning train
He works from nine to five and then
He takes another home again
To find me waitin’ for him”
Sheena Easton – My Baby Takes The Morning Train

As much as I hate to age myself, I remember loving this song as a kid. I remember fantasizing about living somewhere near New York where one would actually take a train to commute to work. Having always been a bit of an old fashioned girl, I truly imagined myself waiting for him at the station. I’ve always loved trains, so that only fueled the fantasy, of course. As a kid, I always thought I’d live in a bigger more glamorous city, but as I’ve settled into the life I have…well, I have to say I enjoy the slow, comfortable pace of the South. That’s not to say we don’t have rush hour traffic and all the pressures of any other place, but we’ve got no trains to and from work. The only buses we have go to the welfare offices, the projects, and Walmart and they’re called Shuttles, naturally since this is the Rocket City.
I took a trip on a train as a kid, even slept on the train, but I was very little and it was in Germany so I have very little memory of it. I think I’d really like to take a real trip on a train someday…in fact, I think I’ll add it to my bucket list…Take the Train Somewhere.

Going Out to Stay In

I love books. Not just reading them, but having them. I love the way they look on my shelves. I love the way they smell. Bookstores smell so good to me and a library? Oh that’s just heaven. Its the smell of books having been on their own adventures, not just the ones they hold inside. There have been times when I would just spend hours curled up with a book and not even realize how much time had passed while I was drudging through a swamp with a young girl looking for her mother…or hiking snowy hills as a woman is being rescued from impending doom. I’ve never been one for Fantasy books, but I’ve certainly read some fantastic ones.

I especially shopping for new books. I tried ordering them online and the electronic eReaders, but there’s nothing quite like holding that book in your hands…the feel of the paper on your fingers, the smell of it…the frantic search for your bookmark (dog eared pages are a huge NO). It’s been a while since I’ve been on such an outing, because I haven’t done a whole lot of reading lately. However, there’s no season like winter for snuggling up with some hot cocoa, some cozy lounge-wear, and a good book! Fortunately, I have several books on my shelf that are long overdue for my attention. So, today I don’t need to go out to stay in.

When I was putting this outfit together I thought about how its seems most like something I’d wear in real life to run my errands. Henley tops are just so comfortable and just like this new one Cynful, they can make the cleavage look mighty inviting. *giggles* Of course, in my case that means a place to catch crumbs or my Aunt Brenda used to call it…the good ole boobie trap! Either way, if you want something chill and just to not be so over the top all the time…to just relax and hang out with friends while still looking  top notch, this Drop Down Top fits perfectly with the Anyday Skinny Jeans, both from Cynful so you know you can mix and match those colors perfectly. I’m personally a sucker for ombres and even those are matching up really well. Whatever you errands, stay safe, stay warm, and stay cozy! ♥

Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you’ll start having positive results. ~Willie Nelson

I first became aware of the power of positive thinking in high school. I had changed schools mid year in the eleventh grade. It was the first time I had ever changed schools mid year. My parents had always been very careful about that and despite that high school being the eighth school for me, it was still a first. To be honest, it was something I had always wanted to do and finally my parents divorce was allowing me this privilege. A few months after that another girl was transferred to my final public school and we were instant friends. She called it PMA, Positive Mental Attitude. I had never heard of it and it began to change my life.
Like most teenagers, I was convinced that my life was the most tragic of them all. Little did I know how truly sheltered my life had been. The amount abuse inflicted upon me by my father was merely a foundation for the damage I would do to myself later in life. It was nothing compared to what others would do to me later. Yet, in moment of lucidity, I would draw upon that PMA that learned about in high school and it ALWAYS brought change…positive change.
It’s not always easy to maintain that positive mental attitude, but its a lot easier than allowing yourself to be sucked into an undertow of negativity and toxicity. I write a lot about walking away from toxic people and taking control of your life to keep those negative people out. However, I know that I am my own worst critic and I believe that most of us are like that. There are boundless articles online about maintaining a positive attitude and the power of positive thinking. I won’t bother writing all of that out. I merely encourage you all to seek out at least one article about it and try it for yourself.
Now about these photos! I saw this hair on Flickr and had to hunt it down. Its such a fun style and so versatile. I femmed it up a bit, but imagine all the ways you could enhance a role play outfit. Which is what I started off doing by pairing it with this Feral dress by Cellar Door, but then my own style kicked in and before you know it…tadaaa…I had paired it with these adorable stockings and retro heels and yeah…here I am!
If you’re like me, you love to explore the grid and part of exploring is finding great places to take pictures. My friends Kobie and Kess had told me about Whole Wheat a while back and I even managed to get over there to take a photo about a week or two ago. However, they just moved and they’re in the process of setting up new scenes. I found a few that were extremely tempting, but tis the season for all things pumpkin so I jumped right into this lovely little fall scene. There are already several amazing scenes, so when you’re done reading that article, cuz I know you’re gonna…go check it out for yourself! ♥

Let it Rain

Let the rain kiss you. Let the rain beat upon your head with silver liquid drops. Let the rain sing you a lullaby. Langston Hughes

I think that gentle storms are one of Mother Nature’s most beautiful gifts. Replenishing the earth and all its inhabitants. Some of my best and favorite moments happened in the rain and the right rain will bring every one of those beautiufl memories pouring over me as if they happened just yesterday. I’m sure you don’t want to hear about all of them, but I may write about them some day. This isn’t the first time I’ve had a post about rain. Honestly, I don’t have a whole lot to talk about at the moment, because I’ve got so much stress on me in the real world right now…I’m finding it a little difficult to focus.

However, I was perusing  facebook & flickr earlier when I noticed that my friend Joe had posted a new pic and it was gorgeous. Clicking his handy little link led me to a new favorite sim and I could not resist taking a few photos. I had already decided I wanted to blog this look, so finding something to wear? No problem, just a quick change of the hair and I was all set. I finally settled on this particular photo as my favorite, but I can’t wait to go back and take more. I absolutely love the artistic vision that’s gone into this beautiful place and I do hope you’ll go check it out for yourself. Naturally all the details for my outfit are below, as well as the pose and the link. Enjoy!
