The longer I live, the more beautiful life becomes. If you foolishly ignore beauty, you will soon find yourself without it. Your life will be impoverished. But if you invest in beauty, it will remain with you all the days of your life. – Frank Lloyd Wright
In November of last year, Atelier Burgundy & Pitaya teamed up to create a bookstore gacha for Anthem. Fortunately for me, there was a fatpack option. Without any hesitation or even too close of a look, I snatched it up and sat on it for months. I knew a time would come that I would finally create a used bookstore. Well, here comes Anthem with a boho themed round for April and lucky little me, had access to Bueno’s set, as well as THOR’s. Now, get this…InsurreKtion recently invited me to join their blogging team as a VIP and there it was, sitting so pretty in Blogotex! A boho deco set!!! I knew this was it! I quickly rezzed all the things….the bookstore fatpack and all three of my boho sets. But wait, there’s more magic…Mikel Monk, the creator behind the Bueno brand, had named his couch, Kerouac!! Now, I realize there are tons of readers out there that have their own connection to Jack Kerouac, but for a while in college, I was absolutely obsessed. I even had a cat named, Jack Kerouac! I mean, clearly this was a sign, right?
I did my best to list everything in the credits, but as you can see from the photo, I used a ton of items to create my used bookstore. I was picturing one of those really cozy used book stores, that brings in a few treats first thing in the morning with a couple of canisters of coffee, but once those things are gone, that’s it for the day. They sell a variety of collectibles, new and used books, and encourage their customers to hang out.
I typed book and books into my inventory search and just started rezzing out everything. I didn’t bother trying to list every single collection, stack, and row of books, because that would have taken me all day. Let’s face it, I’d rather be reading! I did grab the names of some things, but if you really want to know a specific item in the photo, just let me know. I don’t think I’ll be tearing down this scene anytime soon. ☺
“And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.” ― F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby
It’s been a long while since I did a dedicated decor post, but I could not let me avatar overshadow any of the delightful details in this scene. I just couldn’t. I did think of inviting friends to sit around the table, but again…I just couldn’t bring myself to interrupt the flow of this decor. However, with that said, if you’ve ever wanted to put together a dinner party for the holidays…this is surely the year. We need to reach out to one another more than ever, as 2020 has been one swift kick in the arse after another. So, rejoice and celebrate the best you can this season. I know I’m doing my best.♥

This song made think of my friend, Grace….she jokes about drinking in order to put up with her family. Now let’s hope she doesn’t kill me for this…LOL

Life is messy. There’s no doubt about that. Anyone with pets or children will attest to stepping in something questionable in the middle of the night. Nothing will throw off your day faster than cleaning up a mess like that first thing in the morning. Clearly, life isn’t perfect, but rather than compare our lives to those we see on our lovely screens…I think its better to embrace it. I know my life isn’t what I had hoped it would be and I changed my ideas about my life several times over the course of my life. Not once did I envision my life to be what it is now. I jokingly said I’d be a fat old woman who hates kids and has a bunch of cats. I don’t even have that! I mean, I don’t LOVE kids, but I surely don’t hate them. Ok, I am fat, so I got that goal down easy enough. Wait, was that a goal….oh god, I manifested that shit! Fuck me. Well, ok, so what. I’m fat, I got a grocery list of health problems and no insurance. I’m still here. I have rather decent roof over my head. *looks down at my fat body* Uhm, clearly, I have plenty to eat. *laughs* I have two running cars. I have one tiny feline terrorist and the most perfect smartest dog in all da world. And I still have my wonderful, albeit crazy, Mom. I am freaking blessed! Sure, I struggle financially, but it sure could be worse. My condo and my cars are paid in full. That’s a true blessing. As Thanksgiving (yes, its a U.S. holiday) comes sliding around the corner, I have a lot to be thankful for and I’m thankful that I do. Whether you celebrate this holiday or not, I think its a nice reminder to take some honest inventory of the blessings in our lives. It’s easy to forget those blessings as we go about our mundane daily routines. If you’re blessed enough to be reading this, it means you’ve been blessed with a little bit of time and the luxury of internet. While, I’m not so sure you need to be grateful for reading my ramblings, I’m pretty sure you’ve got your own plethora of blessings to behold. Oh…and don’t think I forgot you. I am very very grateful that you have taken that little bit of time from your life to read my words. More grateful than I can properly express, but Thank You.♥
I don’t know if its as present in other forms of social media as it is on Facebook, but it’s there that passive-aggressive behavior seems to thrive in the forms of elusive memes mysteriously aimed at the poster’s offender. However, this is not the only place or form of said behavior. It’s also exhibited by avoiding people and repeatedly making up reasons to avoid particular individuals as a way of expressing distaste for certain people. I’m pretty sure we’ve all done that. These behaviors are often destructive, but odds are that we all are guilty of this at one time or another. With a little research and a bit of work on ourselves, we can learn to understand the causes and how to properly deal with our emotions. In doing so, we can become mentally healthier and reduce hurting those we love. At the end of the day, do we really want to hurt each other? I know I don’t.

I don’t have a lot to say today. It’s been a weird week and I’m hoping things will be better in the upcoming week. Thank goodness for retail therapy! Between FaMESHed, C88, and Equal10, I’ve got plenty of ways to make myself feel better. On that note, I’m featuring two sets from the current anniversary round of FaMESHed. Elm has done this intricate bathroom set and Mudhoney delivers drapes with open & closed versions that are a must have for anyone that loves to decorate.
Recently I wrote about cutting back on decor blogging. Yet, now that Sassy has been helping me, it has become one of my favorite things to do again. Not just creating a scene, but the back and forth that she and I have while working on it together. I never imagined I could click with someone so well in regards to decor. It just seems like a solo project. Yet, she has the most brilliant ideas and they feed right off of mine. We cut up sooo much while doing, too. We did this entire scene in one hour! Its been a long time since I’ve had this much fun creating blog scenes. I suspect my readers/viewers will be seeing a lot more of her and her work. Thank you, Sassafrass♥
