I have a serious weakness for dining room sets in Second Life. Growing up, my mother always set an immaculate table. She did this daily, for our nightly dinners. She would say that presentation was as important as the taste. For special occasions, she went completely nuts, breaking out the fine china. We actually had two sets of fancy china, real silver silverware, and a complete set of crystal goblets for every type of drink. The way she set a table made it seem like we were one of those rich families, but we weren’t. My father was a soldier and my mother was a nurse. Still today, even though we never have any one over for dinner, she will set the table for special occasions. If we do have company, she’s breaking out the place mats, matching table clothes, and of course the crystal goblets.
