Mood Swings

Our minds are so freaking powerful and yet can also be so very weak at the same time. There’s been a lot of recent controversy about designers in SL, then there was a rather large debate about suicide…lots of opinions and a handful of facts. The truth is, what may seem weak and selfish (suicide) to one, may seem courageous, even enviable to others. We all like to sit up and judge one another for this and that, but the truth is no one knows how another person’s mind works. As a person that has suffered from extreme mood swings my entire life, I can tell you that what might send me over the edge one day, will slip right off my back the next. I’m sure they call them mood swings because that how it feels…like our emotions are just swing through out minds like a monkey on a vine in the jungle. However, what if we were to look at them as literal swings that we can actually control. As we feel a negative swing sweeping us off our feet, we don’t have to fuel that mood with the push and pull that powers a swing. No, we can just surrender and let the swing come to a stop. Then we can get down and choose a better swing. I don’t know if that makes sense to anyone else, but I often write these things for myself more than anyone else. As I try to remind myself not to jump off the swing while its too far back or too far forward, I hope that others will do the same.

This post is not about right or wrong. I think grown folks should already know that. I’ve got nothing good to add to the designer drama. This is merely a post about mood swings with a photo I took before any of the drama even occurred.
