They say you learn something new everyday and for the most part I’d say that’s true for me, but today I learned something really interesting. I’m always fascinated with phobias, because some of them are rather extreme and I just can’t wrap my mind around. Like the fear of mustard. I saw this on some talk show years ago and apparently its not that uncommon, but certainly not run of the mill either! However, today, I found out that Scelerophobia is the fear of criminals! I mean, I don’t know who isn’t a little reluctant to befriend a known criminal, but this is like a legit fear.
People with this phobia usually have some pretty serious security, like multiple locks on their doors, security systems, guard dogs, crazy fences, and more! I’ve never broken into a home or business…that I can remember nor have I ever robbed anyone (shoplifting doesn’t count), but I suppose in some senses, I am or was a criminal. So, clearly, I don’t have this phobia or I’d be afraid of myself. *laughs*
